Prerequisites
IMPORTANT NOTE:
- Upon successful purchase of the course and after completion of the online enrolment form, students will receive an email containing their login details. These credentials will grant student's access to the course learning materials (Learner Guide) as well as additional course resources.
- Download and save the Learner Guide (workbook) to your device in advance. This will allow you to review it and prepare for the course.
- The learner guide provided in class is a returned copy and is for in-class reference only.
- Food Handlers Certificate (SITXFSA005) is a compulsory prerequisite for this course. Copy of certificate/s containing the code SITXFSA005 are required as proof of previous training. Certificates without this code are not acceptable.
Please note: A good understanding of both written and spoken English is required to undertake this course. If you do not meet this requirement, you will need arrange for a NAATI-certified interpreter to be present in the class for translation.
Please inform short courses team prior to course commencement date if you will bringing an interpreter.

What You Get
- Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Nationally Recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency ‘SITXFSA006 – Participate in safe food handling practices & SITXFSA005 Use hygienic Practices for Food Safety Certificate

- The skills and knowledge to recognise prevent and alleviate hazards associated with food handling and the ability and authority to supervise other people handling food at your premises and ensure that it is done safely.

Dress Code
- Participants are advised to wear flat, enclosed, rubber soled shoes for comfort and safety. To ensure food safety procedures are followed, long hair should be tied back and all unnecessary jewellery removed.
Every food business is required to have a food safety supervisor. This intensive one-day course includes visits to food operations sites as part of the assessment and provides supervisors in hospitality businesses with the required certification, 'Participate in safe food handling practices' (SITXFSA006), for the role of Food Safety Supervisor.
This unit describes the performance outcomes, skills and knowledge required to handle food safely during the storage, preparation, display, service and disposal of food.
It applies to food handlers who directly handle food during the course of their daily work activities and this includes cooks, chefs, caterers, kitchen hands and food and beverage attendants.
PLEASE NOTE:

Important
Please Note: This unit is suitable for the hospitality sector (e.g, restaurants, cafes, small food businesses), but it is not appropriate for the Health sector, such as hospitals, aged care facilities, or other healthcare-related environments.
