The online Food Safety Supervisor Refresher certificate is crucial for anyone needing to upgrade their Food Authority accreditation due expiring of old certificates.
From the 1st of September 2015, those who hold a completed NSW Food Authority’s Food Safety Supervisor certificate will need to complete this refresher training to obtain a new certificate and a further 5 years of accreditation
A Food Safety Supervisor must have completed training in specific units of competency at a Registered Training Organisation approved by the NSW Food Authority.
After appointing and training a FSS, the business owner must notify the relevant enforcement agency (usually local council) of who their FSS is, either: online at www.foodnotify.nsw.gov.au or via a form available from, and submitted to the local council.
You will need to provide William Angliss Institute with a certiifed copy of your expired FOOD AUTHORITY certificate during the enrolment process. This demonstrates that you have completed a Full FSS course previously.
If you require an updated Statement of Attainment with the unit of competency details, we will require you to provide certifed copies of your previous statement of attainment from the original RTO when you competed your FSS course. PLEASE NOTE, William Angliss Course only provides unit of competency outcomes for the Hospitality units of competency SITXFSA101 USe hygienic practices for food safety AND SITXFSA201 Participate in safe food handling practices. We DO NOT provide outcomes for the Retail food units.
Once you have purchased the online Food Safety Supervisor Refresher (NSW) - you will be emailed a Username and Password to access the online Learning Management System in order to undertake your course. On successful completion of the course you will be sent the relevant certification.
IMPORTANT NSW FOOD AUTHORITY REQUIREMENTS:
Food businesses have 30 working days from the date of certificate expiry of the appointed FSS to either ensure their appointed FSS renews their training and obtains a new FSS certificate, or another FSS with a current qualification is appointed.
An RTO can provide a Recognition of Prior Learning for the purposes of issuing an FSS certificate if:
The FSS holder currently recertifying holds an FSS certificate that will expire soon, or has expired with the immediately preceding period of 90 Days.
IF YOUR CERTIFICATE HAS EXPIRED OUTSIDE THESE TIMEFRAMES WILLIAM ANGLISS INSTITUTE WILL BE UNABLE TO ISSUE YOU A NSW FSS CERTIFICATE BASED ON COMPLETION OF THE REFRESHER COURSE AND YOU WILL NEED TO ENROL INTO THE FULL NSW FOOD SAFETY SUPERVISORS COURSE.
