This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to design and to develop assessment tools used to guide the collection of quality evidence, including their application in formative, summative and recognition of prior learning (RPL) assessment.

It applies to experienced practitioners responsible for the development and/or delivery of training and assessment products and services.

Please note: The unit of competency requirements are:

  • Written and spoken English
  • A computer with the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader and Microsoft Word
  • Internet access using current browsers e.g. Safari, Chrome, Firefox
  • Candidates should have access to real vocational learners and access to an operational training and assessment environment. If you do not have a workplace you will need to discuss with your trainer to arrange an organisation or alternative to complete your assessment tasks.



Distance Learning  – you will have 3 months to complete this unit

  • If you hold TAE40110 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment, TAELLN411 Address adult language literacy and numeracy skills and TAEASS502 Design and develop assessment tools you meet the currency requirements for trainers and assessors.
