This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to establish and develop a professional mentoring relationship with an individual in a workplace.

It applies to workplace supervisors or other work colleagues who work under limited supervision and who have responsibility for mentoring one or more individuals in the workplace.  This may include, but is not limited to, those who mentor an apprentice or trainee employed by, or undertaking a work placement within, an organisation.

Please note: To complete this unit you must have the following:

Written, reading and spoken English to read and interpret a range of documentation, develop and draft various documents, use clear language to participate in verbal conversations A computer with the latest Adobe Acrobat Reader and Microsoft Word Internet access using current browsers e.g. Safari, Chrome, Firefox Candidates should have access to somebody they can mentor. Contact may be conducted via Skype/Zoom, so this capabilty needs to be considered Somebody that would be suitable as a mentee that will enable you to conduct your mentoring sessions

Distance Learning – you will have 3 months to complete this unit

What you get:

This unit is a possible elective unit in the TAE40122 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment. You will receive a nationally recognised Statement of Attainment for the unit of competency TAEDEL414 Mentor in the workplace.

What you learn:

It will equip you with skills and knowledge required to establish and develop a professional mentoring relationship. Preparation of a mentoring plan that facilitates 3 mentoring sessions.
