Coffee Academy – Industry Leader yet again: This will be another industry first for the coffee academy. Students will complete a skill set that is relevant to their work or will lead to employment in the coffee industry. They will have the option of completing a Certificate III in hospitality at a later date.

The Program

The coffee academy barista skill set has been designed to provide the skills and knowledge required for a barista managing a coffee outlet, making coffee and interacting with customers and colleagues in a cafe, bar, hotel or restaurant setting.

The participant will complete 5 units which can lead to the qualification of Certificate III in Hospitality. The Units are listed below:

SIRXCCS001A Apply point-of-sale handling procedures
SITHFAB012A
Prepare and serve espresso coffee
SITHFAB016A Plan and monitor espresso coffee service
SITXCCS002A Provide quality customer service
SITXOHS002A Follow workplace hygiene

Demand

The cafe and hospitality industries are currently experiencing high demand for trained and skilled baristas. This course will deliver trained and experienced baristas who can manage a coffee outlet, make coffee and provide appropriate responses to consumer questions. Not only will they have coffee making skills but they will have an in-depth understanding of the coffee industry, work place hygiene procedures and point of sale procedures, and customer service skills.

The units will use a range of Flexible delivery methods: face to face teaching, online training, talks and presentations by experienced coffee practitioners, and work experience at allocated cafes.
